Abstract | This workbook is designed to present the process of developing instructional materials to persons who want to write teaching material for a specific and defined readership group. Developed by many people in various educational organizations who have writing and editing experience, it is especially relevant for writing teaching materials for adult basic education as well as for an audience for whom English is a second language. The manual is organized in six chapters that lead the reader through the following steps: (1) before you start writing (audience, resources, materials, objectives); (2) start planning and writing; (3) writing to be read; (4) language, style and tone; (5) design your material; and (6) produce and consult on your material.
