Abstract | Information about alternative education as a baseline of thought for school reorganization is presented in this document. Chapter 1 describes the perspectives of alternative education and identifies common types. Teaching methods, strategies, and beliefs of alternative education are discussed in chapter 2. Chapter 3 focuses on the structural arrangements of alternative education, such as the necessary components for change and program building and factors for success or failure. The final chapter reviews research on alternative schools, presents student attitudes, and offers information on the cost of dropping out of school. Two figures are included.
