Abstract | This document contains descriptions of 55 adult education experimental demonstration projects and 18 adult education staff development projects conducted in Pennsylvania in fiscal year 1991. The projects are funded through Section 353 of the Adult Education Act of 1988. Each description includes a project number, project costs, contact person with address, abstract, expected products, and project descriptors. The projects address various needs related to adult basic education instruction, General Educational Development test preparation, English-as-a-Second-Language instruction, family literacy, and workplace literacy. Some representative projects include the following: adult basic education student support group; Adult Education Clearinghouse; alumni association for special needs adults; a computer-based mathematics program for the learning disabled adult; development and evaluation of a model family literacy program; the effective implementation of word-of-mouth recruitment; English-as-a-Second-Language literacy handbook; family literacy on tape; senior survival skills training; prevocational clerical skills; printing and literacy project; program management by computer; thinking and reading for entry-level workers; adding family literacy to tutor training; computer literacy staff training; and the Pennsylvania-Ohio staff development conference.
