Abstract | These supplementary units are designed to help students with special needs learn and apply agricultural skills in the areas of animal breeding, animal nutrition, leadership, and power tools. Specific competencies are listed as study questions at the beginning of each of the 10 self-paced and self-contained units. Skill sheets, activity sheets, and unit tests are provided to reinforce and assess students' knowledge. The units contain large print, simplified text and numerous drawings to aid in comprehension. Units contain the following components: introduction, objectives, study questions, student assessment, terms, information sheets, skill sheets, activity sheets, and unit tests and performance checklists. A section of instructor information at the front of the book contains notes to the instructor, helpful resources, answer keys, competencies, a class progress chart, and a follow-up questionnaire. Units cover the following topics: digestion, basic nutrients, balanced rations, guidelines for feeding livestock, the male and female reproductive systems, heritability, genetic improvement, using a portable electric saw, and parlimentary procedure.
