AbstractA descriptive study was conducted of the career status of the graduates of the Adult and Community Education (ACE) program of Indiana University of Pennsylvania. A questionnaire was developed and sent to 238 graduates and active students of the program, asking about the kinds of careers being pursued, the salaries being earned, and the perceived importance of the ACE degree in obtaining the respondents' present positions. Eighty-nine questionnaires were returned from 40 active students and 49 graduates. The respondents identified a total of 68 different job titles; they were employed in a wide variety of fields, with health care and higher education employing the largest proportion of ACE students. Respondents ranged from the unemployed/retired to those earning more than $50,000 per year. The highest paid graduates were employed in health care, retail business, and consulting/training services. The highest paid current students were employed in utilities, health care, higher education, and school districts. Respondents rated the program as "moderately important" in acquiring their present positions, although several people noted that it did have a positive impact on helping them do their jobs more effectively. (The document includes 13 references and 5 appendices containing a list of the careers that students/graduates of the ACE program are pursuing; the questionnaire used in the project; the cover letter; a list of all mentioned occupations; and information on student awards, publications, and presentations.)
