Abstract | This bibliography lists over 1,400 publications on distance education primarily from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s. The selection criterion is what the compiler, a scholar and a practitioner, found relevant. Books in English dominate; a considerable number of works in German are listed; and some in French, Spanish, and Scandinavian languages are included. The bibliography consists of two parts: alphabetical and systematic (subject arrangement). The alphabetical bibliography contains a large section of works listed under the names of individual authors and a short section of miscellaneous and periodicals. The systematic bibliography is organized by these categories: bibliographies; case studies; completion--drop out; computers; counseling; course development; developing countries; economics; evaluation; general education; history; illustration; innovation; learning styles; library services; media; objectives; organization; pacing; postgraduate study; professional training; programmed learning; psychology; rationale and theory; research methods; special learning areas; staff; structure--style; student autonomy; students; supervised correspondence study; surveys and research; systems approach; terminology; testing; two-way communication; and typography. Complete bibliographic information (author, title, date, publisher) is found in the alphabetical part. In the systematic part, only authors' names and years of publication are given as references to the alphabetical part. (YLB) |
