AbstractOperation Waste Watch is a series of seven sequential learning units which addresses the subject of litter control and solid waste management. Each unit may be used in a variety of ways, depending on the needs and schedules of individual schools, and may be incorporated into various social studies, science, language arts, health, mathematics, and artistic activities. Each unit consists of a teacher's guide, filmstrip-cassette set, activity cards, test materials, duplicating masters, and a poster. This document contains the teacher's guide and activity cards for the first-grade unit entitled "Waste Out of Place." In this unit, students classify objects into two categories, "waste objects" and "useful objects." In addition, they learn to identify litter and dispose of their own waste items properly. Eighteen individual- and 10 class-activity cards are included. (CW)
