Abstract | This document summarizes research on partnerships in training. Part I describes forming linkages between employers and providers as a common business transaction and identifies services available from providers, locating a provider, criteria for selecting a provider, and how to evaluate linkage relationships. Part II describes the providers of training and identifies educational institutions, such as 4-year colleges and universities, community and junior colleges, secondary schools, vocational and technical schools, and proprietary schools; trade and professional associations; unions; community-based organizations (CBOs); the Federal Government; businesses; and public funding sources and intermediaries, such as the Job Training Partnership Act (JTPA) and Private Industry Councils (PICs). Part III describes the following types of training: executive development, management development, supervisory, nontechnical professionals, technical professionals, international, sales, safety, regulatory, customer service, and clerical technical skills. Part IV describes the creation of a linkage as a learning experience. A 38-item reference list is included. (CML) |
