| Abstract | This report represents the work of the Teacher Education Assessment Committee (TEAC) at Central Missouri State University (CMSU), established in April of 1988. The TEAC is a multifaceted system that conducts and publishes results of periodic assessments and an evaluation of CMSU's Teacher Education Programs by soliciting input from: (1) CMSU teacher education faculty; (2) pre-service teacher education candidates; (3) in-service teachers and other graduates of the teacher education program; and (4) employers of educators prepared by CMSU. The results of all assessments and evaluations are then applied to the current teacher education program and shared with school districts that employ CMSU graduates. From its extensive data base, TEAC is able to describe the nature of the students and perceptions of the teacher education program at CMSU. Specific information is provided to individual departments for use in student advising and counseling. Analyses of demographic trends of teacher education classes are used to assist in load assessment, needs assessment, future planning, and personnel management. Survey results are documented in the appendices, and some comments and suggestions drawn from 1989 surveys are presented. (JD) |
