Abstract | This booklet provides a succinct survey of studies on stress in relation to teaching, centering around British research. It provides a comprehensive guide to how stress in teaching has been studied and the conclusions reached. Topics covered are: (1) what is stress; (2) what are the causes of stress in teaching; (3) how prevalent is stress in teaching; (4) who is stressed; and (5) what are the effects of stress and how can teachers cope.
