Abstract | This handbook is a collection of lesson plans for teachers of adults studying English as a Second Language, designed to complement and supplement the instructors' own teaching strategies. The handbook covers all skill areas as well as a wide range of topics for experienced and inexperienced teachers. Each lesson plan follows a specific format, including the topic, contributor's name and institution, level, time required, purpose, materials, procedure, and any additional notes. Each lesson plan is self-explanatory, and can be used without additional in-service training. The lessons are organized in seven categories: English grammatical structures; reading/writing; conversation/oral communication; vocabulary/idioms; coping/survival skills; games; and customs/cultural awareness. Since many lessons address more than one subject-area, lesson plans are cross-indexed. (MSE) |
