Abstract | This curriculum guide was developed to help trade and industrial education teachers (especially in Louisiana) improve their graphic arts course. The guide provides a course description and content outline for a 1-year course to be taught in grades 10-12. Preliminary matter includes a course flowchart, prerequisite, goals and objectives, time frame, and course outline. The guide contains 20 units that cover the following topics: orientation and safety; the graphic arts industry; type styles; planning, design, and layout; composition methods; proofing type composition; copy preparation for process photography; process camera and darkroom procedures; letterpress image carriers; letterpress imposition; letterpress image transfer; lithographic imposition; lithographic image carriers; lithographic image transfer; screen printing; finishing and binding; pulp and paper manufacturing; printing ink; graphic arts career opportunities; and photography. Each unit teaching guide consists of objectives, topics, student activities, teacher activities, and resources. A list of audiovisual sources and a 7-item bibliography are included. (KC) |
