Abstract | The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) seeks to broaden and accelerate use of their technical knowledge. This publication is intended to heighten public awareness of the technology available for use and its potential for economic and social benefit to the United States. Section 1 outlines NASA's mainline efforts that generate new technology, including aviation technology, space technology, the space station, and commerical uses of space. Section 2 contains a representative sampling of spinoff products and processes that resulted from technology utilization, or secondary application, including the area of public safety, health, transportation, energy, consumerism, environment, manufacturing technology, and agriculture. Section 3 describes the various mechanisms NASA employs to stimulate technology utilization and lists, in an appendix, contact sources for further information about the Technology Utilization Program.
