Abstract	An analysis of data concerning unionization among college faculty during 1988 is presented. The following topics are discussed: (1) agents elected; (2) American Federation of Teachers; (3) National Education Association; (4) American Association of University Professors; (5) "no-agent" elections; (6) decertifications; (7) strikes; (8) legislation; (9) demographics; (10) first contract signing by four institutions; and (11) faculty work stoppages. Overall results included the following: Modest increases were reported in every category of faculty unionization; the three national unions had little success in organizing new faculty bargaining units; and no unrepresented unit of tenure-stream, full-time faculty elected collective bargaining. Trends are also examined, including the impact of the Yeshiva decision on public and private colleges. Tables summarize election data, faculty work stoppages in 1988, "back-to-school" strikes, 1977-88, and faculty work stoppages, 1966-88. (KM)
