Abstract | This New York State teaching activities guide is designed to be used by instructors of adult basic education to encourage students to register to vote, to obtain information about the candidates and issues of the 1988 Presidential election, to make responsible decisions, to cast ballots, and to accept and work with the results of the election. The sections within the guide focus on: (1) election awareness; (2) becoming an informed voter; and (3) the voting process. To promote understanding of political terms and voter responsibility, sections contain various activities including fill-in-the-blank fact sheets, a crossword puzzle, case studies, practice voter registration forms, and issues worksheets. Answer keys are provided for the fact sheets and the crossword puzzle. (DJC) |
