Abstract | In order to evaluate the M.Ed. in Reading Program at William Paterson College (New Jersey), a study surveyed 56 recent graduates of the program for their responses to three questions: (1) How do graduates evaluate the total program and its components? (2) How "professional" are the graduates? and (3) How well do graduates do in the marketplace? The total program received a "Very Valuable" rating, with specific components receiving individual ratings, with recommendations for improvement. Professionalism of program graduates--measured by their publications, participation in conferences and workshops, membership in associations, the reading of professional journals, and interest in graduate work--was ranked as high. Job status before and after completion of the M.Ed. program was reported. (Eleven tables of data are included and 15 references and an appendix containing the survey instrument and letters are attached.) (SR) |
