Abstract	This report provides province-wide information on the number and academic performance of students transferring from the community colleges and secondary schools in British Columbia (BC) to three BC universities (University of British Columbia, University of Victoria, and Simon Fraser University) between 1977 and 1984. Data for college transfer students are compared to data for direct-entry students (i.e., students entering the university directly from secondary schools). After chapters 1 to 3 provide an executive summary, introduction, and definitions of terms, chapter 4 presents detailed information on the flow of students from BC colleges and secondary schools to the three universities, showing the number of transfers during the 8-year period from each community college to each university and from schools in each college region to each university. Academic progress is examined in terms of continuing enrollment or withdrawal status, undergraduate degree attainment, and academic standing upon graduation. Chapter 5 deals with the current enrollment status of the transfer students, while chapter 6 explores the relationship between degree completion and grade point average upon entry to the university. Chapter 7 looks at withdrawal rates over time by university and program. Chapter 8 provides information on the specific degrees and degree majors attained by the graduates, exploring changes over time in the types of degrees and majors earned. Chapter 9 examines the final academic standing of students who have earned degrees. (Author/EJV)
