AbstractDuring the period 1984-1986, over 30 teachers from the Yorkshire (England) region have worked in collaboration with the Children's Learning in Science Project (CLIS) developing and testing teaching schemes in the areas of energy, particle theory, and plant nutrition. The project is based upon the constructivist approach to teaching. This booklet was designed to provide teachers with a better understanding of constructivism, particularly as it applies to teaching science. It contains sections on: (1) learning and teaching (including various views of learning theory); and (2) a constructivist view of learning (containing information on learning processes, constructivist teaching techniques, and some implications for constructivism on various aspects of education). Also included are a list of references and sources for further reading on the topic. (TW)
