Abstract | This instructor's guide contains eight lesson plans for teaching soil conservation in accordance with the Missouri State Board of Education's Vocational Instructional Management System. To make the unit easier for teachers to use, the following materials are provided in the front of the unit: objectives and competencies for each lesson, a references and materials list, and a competency profile. Each of the eight lessons contains the following components: teaching procedures, information sheets, study questions, evaluation test with answers, references, and transparency masters. The lessons cover the following topics: benefits of conservation, land utilization, how soils are eroded, cropping and reduced tillage systems, no-till farming, erosion control structures, universal soil loss equation, and agency assistance.
