| Abstract | This handbook is intended to assist adult educators in obtaining access to programs and documents devoted to adult education. Resources were selected for inclusion in the handbook on the basis of their availability, scope (resources must be at least national in breadth), and focus on or have some significance to adult educators. The handbook is divided into sections on the following topics: general, concerning resources for adult educators (the role of UNESCO in resources for adult educators, the definition of adult education, adult education in the context of lifelong learning, the professional development and characteristics of adult educators, adult education agencies, language considerations, quality of resources, and policies/declarations on adult education); conferences, symposia, workshops, and meetings on resources and information resources; information organizations (programs, networks, information centers, clearinghouse, libraries, resource centers, and collections); categories of resources (print, media, database systems, professional personnel, associations/organizations, and professional development); location of resources (public/government and nongovernment libraries, adult education agencies, associations and organizations); and supportive services (classification schemes, finances/grants, evaluation, and awards/recognition).
