Abstract | This guide, which is profusely illustrated with line drawings and diagrams, is intended to help teachers and trainers understand what different types of visual aids are available and how to make and use them effectively. Discussed in the introduction are general principles of training, teaching, communication, and methods. Covered next are general and special aspects of using aids effectively. Various types of aids are examined, including chalkboards, felt boards, photographs, charts and diagrams, diascopes, overhead projectors, filmstrips, films, loop films, closed-circuit television, models, and screens. Guidelines for indexing and preserving material and for organizing a learning resource center are presented. Described in a chapter on making aids are procedures for making various equipment, models, charts, felt boards, plastigraph, magnetic boards, slides, overhead projector illustrations, filmstrips, and 8-millimeter film loops. Lists of recommended materials, useful addresses, and suggestions for further reading conclude the guide. (MN) |
