Abstract | This student guide is intended to teach persons employed as supervisors how to manage time. Discussed in the first three sections are the following topics: the importance of managing time (managing time, becoming a better time manager, crisis management, beck and call, the treadmill, and the activity trap); techniques of deciding how to use time (making decisions, responding to demands, developing good habits, establishing priorities, developing a time management grid, and understanding the function of the quadrants in a time management grid); and ways of planning and controlling time (planning time, establishing the order in which tasks must be completed, allocating plans, coping with the unexpected, dealing with time management problems, and getting time management accepted). Each of these sections contains an introduction, an instructional text interspersed with reinforcing learning activities, and a summary for each section. The fourth part of the guide includes a series of performance checks (an end check, a tutor check, and a work-based project). A unit review, which also includes a description of related extension courses and resources, concludes the guide. (MN) |
