Abstract | A series of high-interest, low English-language-learning-level stories developed for adult students of English as a second language are combined as a soap opera for classroom use. An introductory section outlines techniques for presentation of the texts on tape and in written form and for exercises in listening, making inferences, reading, and discussion. Suggestions are made for creative group follow-up activities. Each unit includes one story and a student worksheet with exercises for story comprehension, communication, grammar, vocabulary development, practice with idioms, discussion, and composition. The grammar and communication exercises are indexed, and lists of unit vocabulary items and idioms are appended. (MSE) |
