Abstract | This directory is designed to serve as a resource guide for vocational educators who need additional instructional material in the teaching of communications or vocationally oriented communications in their classes. The user guide explains the organization and use of the manual. The Communications Resource Materials section is divided into topic areas. It is composed of books, articles, multimedia, and computer programs. Resources have been chosen for their applicability to middle, junior high, and high school students. The resource materials provide the following information: title (listed alphabetically within each section), author (developer, editor, or agency), source (distributor of the material), description (brief explanation of purpose, some discussion of topics covered, and mention of target audience), and cost. The resources are divided into six categories: words and meanings, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and general. The Teacher Resource Materials section covers many potential areas of assistance for teachers and includes teacher education materials, references on vocational special needs, and program-oriented materials. The List of Publishers lists alphabetically the source of the materials in both resource materials sections. The appendix is a chart illustrating generalizable communications skills by vocational program area and the importance of each skill to each vocational program area. (YLB) |
