AbstractThis report is the Los Angeles Community College District's (LACCD's) seventh annual analysis of its progress under the Affirmative Action Program established in July 1976. Introductory remarks explain the District's affirmative action policy and summarize minimum benchmarks and percentage goals for the District. Next, an overview is provided of the LACCD's affirmative action program, including information on the functions of the District's Office of Affirmative Action Programs and Services; the role of college and district affirmative action representatives; the reporting requirements of the federal government; and the district's progress toward meeting its goals. A districtwide analysis is presented next, revealing: (1) the total number of LACCD employees decreased by 9.2% since 1982, with the secretarial/clerical and service maintenance categories most affected; (2) the percentage distribution of women and Blacks decreased by 3% and 1%, respectively; (3) of the 167 executive/administrative staff members, 25% were Black, 13% Hispanic, 7% Asian/Pacific Islander, 0% Alaska Natives or Native Americans, 56% White, and 27% female; (4) minorities represented 23.6% of the full-time and 24.8% of the part-time faculty; (5) women represented 39.6% of the full-time and 32% of the part-time faculty; and (6) the minimal number of net new hires in 1982-83, in combination with retirements, administrative transfers, and resignations resulted in a "deceleration" of progress. The next sections provide workforce analyses for the nine campuses in the LACCD and the District Office. A workforce analysis by class and class code is appended. (LAL)
