AbstractDeveloped following an intensive information-gathering process conducted by Idaho home economics teachers, this guide is designed to be used for a full-year vocational home economics course in the junior high school and in the senior high school. The foundation for both of the courses is the multiple roles individuals fill as homemakers and wage earners. At the junior high level, the "Teen Living" curriculum is designed to focus upon the adolescent as a contributing member in a home and family situation, while at the senior high level, the "Adult Living" curriculum is designed to focus upon the teenager as an individual preparing to assume, or already assuming, the responsibilities of a leader in a home and family life situation. The "Teen Living" and "Adult Living" sections of this curriculum guide are organized into six units focusing on identical topics: coordinating work life and family life, nurturing human development, economics and managing resources, feeding and nourishing the family, meeting personal and family textiles needs, and creating a living environment. Each section in both guides begins with a statement of rationale and focus. Each includes a scope and sequence, an outline of the competencies and sub-competencies that should be taught as part of the curriculum (keyed to learning experiences including Future Homemakers of America activities that could be used to help students achieve the competency) and resources to be used for the suggested learning experiences.
