Abstract	An official delegation of Americans representing the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the National Association of State Universities and Land Grant colleges visited the People's Republic of China (PRC) to study the management and organization of the Chinese agricultural extension systems and to identify areas for the Chinese authorities to review for development of their rural youth programs. The delegation identified the following major sources of youth programming in China: the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF), the Communist Youth League, the Young Pioneers, science and technology associations, children's and youth palaces, government offices in charge of rural youth programs, and student unions. Chinese and U.S. officials agreed that the Chinese need to strengthen their extension outreach system and to improve the linkages between agricultural research and extension. The U.S. delegation recommended the following actions: development of an agreement between the ACYF and the National 4-H Council, formulation of agreements between individual universities in the PRC and the United States, and implementation of a pilot project to test the feasibility of undertaking rural youth exchanges between individual youth science and technology associations in China and cooperative extension services in the United States.
