Abstract | The guide provides daily living experiences built around topics of interest to limited English speaking students in special education programs. Units are organized around eight themes: (1) at school; (2) living at home; (3) community, communication, and travel; (4) clothing and seasons; (5) shopping and food; (6) health, hygiene, and safety; (7) recreation; and (8) jobs and careers. Each unit contains general suggestions, specific daily living tasks, English vocabulary, and linguistic structures and idioms. In addition, each unit has sample lesson plans, followed by dialogues, stories, games and writing activities for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level students of English as a Second Language. The accompanying resource activities packet provides art work and activities for duplication. (CL) |
