Abstract | This instructor's guide outlines a model program designed to provide middle school students with an opportunity to participate in exploratory activities regarding the world of work and to understand the relationships between education and work. Described in the first part of the manual are the following futures week activities: a job interviewing skit; a futures career day; a business, industry, or government field trip; and a parent program. The second half of the guide consists of classroom materials for use in helping 9th- and 10th-grade students investigate careers while developing writing, social studies, reading, and math skills. Included in this section of the guide are a series of lesson plans, suggested learning activities, student exercises and handouts, information and guide sheets, and answers to selected activities.
