| Abstract | Results of the 1982-1983 Comparative Costs and Staffing Survey are reported based on 757 questionnaire responses. The three sections of the report contain the index of reporting institutions, the unit cost summary, and the wage and salary summary. The index of institutions provides the following information: the state/province two-letter abbreviation and a number assigned to each institution within the state/province, the region in which the institution is located, the type of academic program offered, the type of institution, and the city/town in which the institution is located. The unit cost summary provides information that administrators can use to make comparisons with other school maintenance and operations activity. The cost section includes information on student enrollment, total building area for all campus buildings, total building area maintained in physical plant budget, grounds acreage, cost per gross square foot of building area, employees per function, funds made available for major repairs, and estimated amount of deferred maintenance outstanding at the end of fiscal year 1983. The wage and salary summary provides information on the salaries and number of physical plant managers and staff for 12 positions. Appendices include a questionnaire and instructions, and a classification of accounts for physical plant. (SW) |
