Abstract | This instructor's guide consists of materials for use in helping students enrolled in postsecondary vocational or technical education programs to master technical communications skills. Addressed in the 13 individual units of the guide are the following topics: speaking skills (telephone usage/conversation and informal speech preparation); listening skills (communication obstacles and oral presentations); reading skills (manuals, newspapers, visual aids, and technical vocabulary); and writing skills (spelling, correct grammar, punctuation, paragraph construction, and personal business letters). Each unit contains some or all of the following components: a unit objective, specific performance objectives, suggested activities for the instructor, a list of references, information sheets, transparency masters, assignment sheets, a test evaluation instrument, and test answers.
