Abstract | A project provided teachers and other school personnel with a set of practical instruments for assessing students' generalizable mathematics skills in the secondary vocational training programs in Illinois. The major accomplishments of the project were advisory committee identification and selection; population and sample identification and selection; coordination of project activities with the "Change Skills" project activities; development of the set of student self-ratings, teacher ratings, and performance test mathematics assessment instruments; field testing of instruments; development of strategies for using the instruments; and production of a user manual, resource directory, and final report. The instruments were found to possess content and face validity relative to the mathematics skills required in vocational programs and occupations and were highly reliable in terms of internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability. Following the 25-page narrative, these appendixes are provided: project correspondence, a chart of generalizable mathematics skills, and the instruments (student self-ratings, teacher ratings, and performance test).
