AbstractThe Piedmont Export Expansion Program (PEEP) was developed to increase the number of businesses in central Virginia entering or expanding export trade; to increase the utilization of the services of Central Virginia Community College's (CVCC's) Cross-Cultural and Foreign Language Resource Center by area export businesses; to increase the number of members of the academic and business communities with new knowledge in international trade procedures; and to disseminate information on the project. To achieve these objectives, a year-long seminar program was developed focusing on finding export opportunities, developing sound export marketing plans, coping with cultural differences, and managing problems in export trade. Approximately 12 people, representing a diverse mix of businesses, participated in each session during which instruction was provided by CVCC staff and guest lecturers. The final seminar each quarter was attended by Latin American diplomats, who not only participated in the PEEP seminar but also met with local business representatives and CVCC students. The report includes: information on the purpose, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the project; recommendations for program improvement; a list of area companies involved in foreign trade; the PEEP schedule for 1983-84; lists of program partipicants and lecturers; a PEEP evaluation summary; and letters from the foreign diplomats.
