Abstract	This booklet, one in a series about life on modern farms, describes the daily life of the Maurice Layton family, broiler (chicken) growers in Mississippi. Beginning with early morning chores, the booklet traces the family's activities through a typical day while explaining how a broiler farm operates. Although the booklet focuses on broiler growing, it includes discussion of major topics that are common to all of the booklets: (1) farming as a business, (2) the impact of technology on farming, (3) the increasing specialization in farming, (4) the role of government in agriculture, (5) the diversity in farming, (6) the interdependence between agriculture and the rest of the economy, and (7) the way of life of farmers and their families. The booklet is illustrated with black and white photographs. (KC)
