Abstract | A selected annotated bibliography on projects, training, and strategies for generating income, intended for persons actively engaged in non-formal education for development, reflects a growing number of projects on income generation by and for women's groups, and a reliance upon indigenous associations and group action. Documents dating from 1969 to 1980 are classified into four sections: General (20 entries), with materials citing reasons for emphasis on income generation and discussing general issues, trends, and concerns; Income-Generating Activities (21 entries), including examples of ongoing income-generating projects in a wide range of activities in Bangladesh, Bolivia, India, Papua New Guinea, Ecuador, Trinidad, Uruguay, Tanzania, Botswana, Senegal, Kenya, and other countries; Training for Income Generation (13 entries), listing materials, many of them practical, on training methods and training needs; Strategies to Facilitate Income Generation (22 entries), including information on various mechanisms employed to enhance likelihood of project success, such as organizing groups. The staff of the Non-Formal Education Information Center between 1976 and 1981 is listed. (MH) |
