Abstract | Based on a survey conducted by the American Association of Junior Colleges (AAJC), this directory provides information on 993 community, junior, and technical colleges and two-year branch campuses in the United States and its territories, and AAJC members in other countries, including statistics on 1967-68 enrollments, personnel, and student costs. Following material on the scope of the directory, an analysis of two-year college growth from 1961 to 1968 is presented. Next, the directory lists the colleges alphabetically by state, including the following information for each: location; chief administrative head; year organized as a junior college; type of control or affiliation; AAJC membership; state recognition or accrediting agency; programs (i.e., transfer and/or occupational); co-educational or single-sex status; October 1967 enrollment of full- and part-time freshman, sophomore, and unclassified students; October 1967, summer 1968, and October 1968 total enrollments; full- and part-time faculty and administrators in 1967-68; and tuition per academic year for in-district, out-of-district, and out-of-state students. Statewide enrollment summaries are then provided for all institutions and for public and independent colleges, followed by tables showing distribution by size of enrollment, independent and church-related schools by type of control, and accredited schools by state. Changes in institutions since the previous year, information on AAJC, junior college organizations, and state administrators of two-year college education are covered in the final sections. (AYC) |
