Abstract	The nine brief articles composing this report focus on several aspects of overpopulation and related problems. The first article discusses needs of third-world children in the last quarter of the twentieth century. The second discusses the importance of "childspacing," major health risks of excessive births, breastfeeding for birth spacing, and the need for more and better family planning. The third article briefly points out consequences of unwanted childbearing, emphasizing that every unwanted child is a threat to society 15 or 20 years down the road. Family disintegration in Latin America and its consequences for children are described in the fourth article. The fifth article reports findings of the Sudan Fertility Survey, focusing on how infant mortality affects reproductive behavior. The sixth and seventh articles briefly explore, respectively, the value and cost of children in changing societies, and family size and child development. Sex preference and its effect on family size and child welfare are briefly discussed in the eighth article; consequences of early childbearing are indicated in the ninth. (RH)
