Abstract	This experimental French language teaching module presents an introduction to Acadian history and culture through the songs and perceptions of Acadian singer Edith Butler. Included are a teacher's guide, a cassette tape transcript booklet, and a booklet containing historical and geographical information on Acadia. The core of the module is a taped interview with the singer, in three parts, followed by a fourth part featuring her songs. The teacher's guide, in addition to suggestions for the use of the various components, includes the music for Edith Butler's songs. The module attempts to deal with one of the most current issues in second language pedagogy: how to achieve real communication in French as a second language classes by using topics and issues that are of interest to students and have obvious relevance in contemporary Canadian culture.
