AbstractThis pamphlet on effective public relations (p.r.) is the thirteenth of 16 in a series to provide leaders in adult activities with sound introductory material to give pratical help in using a method of adult education or working in a particular area. Its objective is to help leaders achieve better relations with all their publics. Twelve articles and how-tos are included. The introduction illustrates what a p.r. program can accomplish. "Your Public Image" focuses on the publics from whom organizations get information on their images. Getting the support of everyone in the organization for the p.r. program is discussed in "Public Relations at Home.""Riding the Established Channels" looks at selecting useful channels of communication. "Choose Your P.R. Weapons" describes advantages and disadvantages of different channels of communications, costs, and choosing p.r. help. Suggestions for getting audience attention in p.r. releases are presented in "Twelve Ways to Waylay the Wary Reader.""What's Your Type?" gives hints on producing effective printed matter on a limited budget. Effective photographs are the topic of "6000 Vivid Words," while "Slides Tell Our Story" relates the story of producing a film slide show about a citizen organization. "Public Relations or Propaganda" and "Counterattack" discuss propaganda strategies and p.r. to counteract them. The final chapter is a "Checklist for P.R. Planners." (YLB)
