Abstract | This manual is designed to aid training classroom staff members in training new Behavior Analysis Follow Through teachers. Behavior Analysis Follow Through was designed to meet the educational needs of low-income students in the kindergarten through third grades and was validated as an effective and exemplary educational program by the U. S. Office of Education. The program emphasizes the basic skills of reading, mathematics, spelling, and handwriting. In this manual, guidelines and schedules are offered to help set the pace for introducing trainees to new skills. In the first section, separate suggestions are given for lead teacher trainees, teacher aide trainees, and parent assistant trainees. Suggestions are also given for coaching, modeling, taking observations, and giving feedback. To help the classroom trainer to stress the most important aspects of behavior analysis teaching skills, the second section of this manual is devoted to summarizing these skills. The third section offers suggestions to help the trainer monitor trainee performance and provide supplementary training where necessary. Appendices contain checklists that help the trainer keep record of trainee progress. (CJ) |
