Abstract | The report contains 12 author contributed chapters concerned with special athletic opportunities for individuals with handicapping conditions. The monograph begins with a detailed treatment of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 followed by descriptions of athletic programs developed by various groups. Remaining chapters are concerned with discussions of emerging programs in certain sports, programs developed at regional and state levels, athletic opportunities in higher education, and disabled sports on the international level.
