Abstract	Fifteen essays describing current research in sociology are included in this publication. Almost all the authors are with departments of sociology in U.S. colleges and universities. The essays fall into ten broad categories: theory and method, social processes, institutions, formal organizations, political and economic sociology, differentiation and stratification, demography individual and society, urban sociology, and sociology of world regions.
