Abstract	This portfolio presents papers that were engendered by a conference held in 1978 at Udorn Thani, Thailand. The meeting was organized by the Asian Centre of Educational Innovation for Development and dealt with developing instructional materials and educational aids, particularly those which are produced from local and community resources, by educators in Asia and Oceania. The papers deal with: (1) methods to identify the common and special elements in core curricula for integrated rural development; (2) strategies, methodologies, and institutional arrangements used in the development of instructional materials for translating the core elements into teaching-learning materials and accompanying aids; (3) training teachers and other personnel in the design, use, and improvement of the materials developed; (4) problems and issues encountered in the development and use of materials and the strategies used to solve problems; and (5) mechanisms and procedures for continuous evaluation. Included are papers from: Indonesia, Korea, Pakistan, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Philippines, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. (JD)
