AbstractThis report documents the planning, implementation, and outcomes of a study of the supplementary training available to Follow Through parents and aides. The first chapters outline the history and rationale of Follow Through Supplementary Training Programs and discuss the purpose, limitations, and methodology of the study. Detailed information is provided on: (1) the characteristics of the Supplementary Training Program; (2) demographic characteristics of program participants, including sex, age, race, and socio-economic, marital, educational, and employment status; and (3) attitudes of participants and project directors toward the program. Results indicate that subsequent to Supplementary Training, participants: (1) increased their level of education; (2) experienced a higher rate of employment; (3) improved their economic status through upward job mobility; and (4) increased their personal income. Results also disclose that participant terminations from the program were not associated with participants' perceptions of the program and its effectiveness, and that both participants and project directors displayed positive attitudes about the program. Sample questionnaires are included in the appendix, and college/university affiliations of the program are listed. (Author/APM)
