Abstract | The Subcommittee on Elementary, Secondary, and Vocational Education of the House of Representatives' Committee on Education and Labor held hearings on H.R. 7425, a bill to amend the Indochina Refugee Children Assistance Act of 1976. The purpose was to provide assistance to educational agencies for services provided to Cuban and Haitian refugee children. Hearings were held in Miami, Florida, and Washington, D.C., during June and July of 1980. The Subcommittee heard testimony from 29 people involved in educating Caribbean refugees recently arrived in the United States. Prepared statements, letters, and other materials submitted to the Subcommittee are included. (MK) |
