Abstract | The charts and graphs comprising the bulk of this four-part report summarize the findings of a survey of Canadian community colleges and public trade schools, including all provinces but Quebec. The survey was conducted in Fall 1977 to determine selected characteristics of full-time instructional staff, including academic administrators and teachers; and senior institutional staff, including those administrators, librarians, registrars, and bursars with responsibility for the entire institution or student body. Each of the report's sections analyzes findings by province, program level (trade/secondary or postsecondary), staff position, and sex. Part I analyzes the numbers of instructional and institutional staff with regard to these factors and, additionally, provides information on the number and percentage of instructional staff teaching in 16 curricular areas. Part II provides salary statistics for all instructional staff and for academic administrator and teacher subgroups. It also looks at trends in instructional staff salaries since 1971. Part III provides data and examines trends with respect to the mean age and years of experience of instructional staff. This section also offers information on the highest degree attained by instructional and institutional staff. Part IV details the activities of all and newly appointed staff members prior to their appointment. (JP) |
