Abstract | This volume, "Effects Analyses," the third of three Technical Appendices to the National Day Care Study (NDCS), presents in six individual reports the results of analyses investigating the relationships between policy variables, classroom processes and child outcomes. The volume begins with a presentation of the major effects analyses based on the two behavioral observation instruments used in the study ("The Adult Focus Observation" and "The Child-Focus Observation"), and then moves to a detailed treatment of the development and use of adjusted test score gains. Links among caregiver and child behavior, child test scores and other dependent measures are explored. Results of the Atlanta Public School (APS) controlled substudy and APS replication substudy are also reported. (Author/MP) |
