Abstract | This booklet on teaching composition to gifted students in kindergarten through grade 12 begins by defining the term, "gifted student," and stressing the importance of a good writing curriculum to those students. It then discusses (1) guidelines for creating a writing program for gifted students; (2) Benjamin Bloom's taxonomy applied to the writing process; (3) assessing growth in the gifted student's writing; (4) purposes for writing expressive, referential, literary, and persuasive forms; and (5) essay writing for gifted and talented students. An annotated bibliography lists extensive resources for teachers of gifted students. (AEA) |
