Abstract	Most college graduates who participate in postsecondary vocational or technical education programs enroll in order to prepare for a new career, according to a study of 187 students in three Vocational Technical Adult Education (VTAE) districts in Wisconsin. Through 172 written questionnaires and 15 personal interviews, most students indicated that they had enrolled in VTAE programs so that they could obtain a job that would have a higher salary, as well as to increase their knowledge and skills relative to their present jobs. Most students felt there was very little relationship between the vocational/technical program in which they were enrolled and their baccalaureate majors. Most were either "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with their programs because of the course content and the quality of instruction. Based on the results of the research, the study made several recommendations: (1) develop new vocational/technical programs to go along with baccalaureate degrees; (2) research new job markets; (3) change schedules to allow degree holders to progress more rapidly; (4) change the survey instrument; and (5) do further research in this area. Appendixes include survey and interview instruments; responses to open-ended questions, and VTAE programs of survey respondents. (KC)
