Abstract | This study investigated the attitudes, beliefs, and behavior of Canadian and American children in terms of television viewing of sports, preference for professional or amateur sport models, and proportion of violent to nonviolent television viewing. The written opinionnaire items used in the research determined: 1) demographic information on television viewing habits, 2) personal preferences on professional or amateur sports, and 3) television programs viewed, attitudes of children and parents toward these programs, and the effect of the programs on the children. Differences between Canadian and American children were demonstrated, as well as differences between males and females. Results of the survey are presented in tabular form. (JD) |
